AUTHORNOMICS Summer Contest

A contest to celebrate the end of summer!

When:

Contest ends 12 noon September 23rd

Winner will be announced later that week

How:

This will be a random drawing using www.random.org to generate the lucky numbers.

To enter, you can:

a) Comment on the AUTHORNOMICS Interview Series posts. One entry per blog post (you can comment as many times as you like on each post, but even if you post twenty different times on one interview, you will only be entered once. However, comments on different interviews will each be counted as an entry).

b) Tweet about the AUTHORNOMICS Interview Series and/or the AUTHORNOMICS Summer Contest including @K_Flanagan and @AgentWriter. One tweet per day will be counted.

c) Blog about the AUTHORNOMICS Interview Series and its Summer Contest. Post a link back to your blog as a comment on this post to be entered.

PRIZES:

Prize #1 Andrea will do a developmental edit and evaluation on the first twenty-five pages of your manuscript. Also included will be a certified copyedit and phone consult. Fiction, non-fiction, and memoir accepted.

Andrea Hurst has over 25 years experience as a published author, developmental editor for publishers, and skilled literary agent. She works with both major and regional publishing houses, and her client list includes emerging new voices and New York Times best-selling authors. Andrea represents high profile Adult Nonfiction and well crafted fiction. Her clients and their books have appeared on the Oprah Show, Ellen DeGeneres Show, Good Morning America, National Geographic network and in the New York Times.

Prize #2 Katie will do a developmental and structural edit of a full fiction manuscript.

Katie Flanagan is a fiction major at Northwestern University. She is currently an editor with Booktrope Publishing and a manuscript reader for Pink Fish Press. In the past, she has interned with Andrea Hurst Literary Management and the Northwest Institute of Literary Arts. Her favorite genre is women’s fiction, but she reads any fiction put in front of her. Prize #3 Brandon LaFave will do a developmental edit of the first 50 pages of a manuscript returned with an extensive written report as well as a critique of the query letter, synopsis, and author bio. Fiction, non-fiction, and memoir accepted.

Brandon LaFave joined Andrea Hurst and Associates as an intern after graduating from Western Washington University with a B.A. in Creative Writing and worked his way up to his current position as Author Services Director. Under Andrea Hurst’s expert guidance, Brandon has built on his experience as a tutor and reader for Jeopardy Magazine to become a skilled developmental editor.

Prize #4 A free copy of Issue Three of the Line Zero literary magazine.

Prize #5 A free copy of The Indie Writer’s Workshop, published by Pink Fish Press.

Prize #6 A free copy of The Writer’s Portable Mentor: A Guide to Art, Craft, and the Writing Life by Priscilla Long.

Prize #7 A free author blog consult by Tom Masters, founder of Orion Wellspring.

    I didn’t think I’d be interested in a business book agent/publisher. Instead, I found myself reading (and devouring) the entire interview. There were certain answers he gave that I already knew, but it was helpful. Thanks for the opportunity.
