As a team, William Schroder and Dr. Ron Dawe have professional credentials, but more than that, both are decorated combat veterans and both have lived with the symptoms of PTSD – the highest platform one can attain among stricken veterans and their caring families and loved ones. Indeed, it is unlikely the narrative biographies in Soldier’s Heart could have been collected by anyone not in that “club.”    

William Schroder is a Vietnam veteran, infantry officer, helicopter pilot, successful businessman, sailor, husband, father and author.  Currently, he is an auxiliary cadre member of Warriors, Inc., Hollywood’s foremost military technical advisory company. www.warriorsinc.com. Schroder’s own PTSD symptoms and its decades-long effects on his family and loved ones compelled him launch a deeper investigation into this largely misunderstood disorder with the goal of disseminating his discoveries.

Dr. Ronald Dawe is a graduate of Maimonides University, holds a doctorate in Clinical Sexology and is a licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida.   His clinical focus is on treating the underlying psychological causes of chemical dependency and other addictive behaviors.  Dr. Dawe is a trained therapist in the application of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy on posttraumatic stress disorder and complex trauma, which increasingly are shown to have causal effects on the development of addictions.  He is a clinical member of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers, a Certified Clinical Sexologist and a Diplomat of The American Board of Sexology. Dr. Dawe’s special interest is the link between early, complex trauma in childhood and chemical abuse and dependence later in life.  Currently, he is the Executive Director of The Palm Beach Institute in West Palm Beach, Florida. Dr. Dawe served as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam in 1968-1969 and subsequently struggled three decades with PTSD.

In addition to many articles, essays, short stories and screenplays, William Schroder is the author of Cousins of Color, an historical novel that examines America’s 1899 invasion of the Philippines, this nation’s first overseas war of conquest and occupation.  Since its publication in 2004, Cousins of Color has gained acceptance in academia and with African/American and multi-cultural interest groups.  www.cousinsofcolor.com
