The First Fifty

Getting your book published is more competitive than ever. Literary agents and acquisition editors have less time to evaluate new submissions, especially from first time authors. As a result, many have developed a shorthand method to facilitate this process.  They look at the first 50 pages of a submission, a brief plot synopsis and one page author bio. If they are not impressed with this material, they will not read further and the material will be rejected.

THE FIRST FIFTY is a way of getting through initial submission hurdle and onto the serious reading pile of agents and editors. Our evaluators have extensive acquisition experience, many with major New York publishing houses, and prominent literary agencies. This is an effective and affordable way for you to get the guidance you need to make your crucial introductory material into a winner.

Here’s How It Works:

After a brief initial consultation, you will be asked to send in the first fifty pages of your manuscript, a 1-3 page plot synopsis and a one page author bio (in one double-spaced email Word attachment). We will match you with an expert editor in your genre. You will have the choice to receive a full edit and a comprehensive written report,  or a full edit, brief written report, and a phone consult to clarify any questions you may have regarding the report.
